100% hosted in Switzerland, the Swiss MOOC Service was built to serve public institutions and allow easy distribution of MOOCs.
The Swiss MOOC Service (SMS) project was founded by leading Swiss universities EPFL, ETH, SUPSI, USI and HES-SO and was financially supported by the Swiss Universities’ P5 program.
The service was born from the need by Swiss Universities to have their MOOCs hosted in cloud infrastructure while having their data protected by Swiss data protection laws and with the desire to have a not for profit entity running the operations of their MOOCs.
On April 23 2021 the SMS Association was founded to continue the development and maintenance of the platform and services to the Higher education institutions in Switzerland and abroad.
