roteco: robotics teacher community
roteco is a community of practice for teachers interested in integrating educational robotics into their classrooms.

Skills for the 21st century
We live in a digital society that demands the acquisition of essential skills, both technical—such as computational thinking and coding—and transversal, like communication, collaboration, and creativity.
Educational robotics stands out as an ideal tool to develop these skills in schools. However, a major challenge remains: how can we effectively integrate educational robotics into the formal education system?
Community of practice
The roteco project aims to create a dynamic community of teachers interested in robotics and computational thinking.
This community is based on:
- The sharing of pedagogical practices, communication about the latest advancements, and training opportunities.
- The development and management of an interactive web platform, accessible at www.roteco.ch, run by community managers.
If you are a teacher or simply curious about the world of educational robotics, join us and be part of our vibrant community!
Intercantonal and trilingual collaboration
The roteco project was initiated by the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) and the Wyss Institute of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETHZ) thanks to to the financing of the Swiss Academies. The project has gone through several phases and to date 12 universities of education have joined the project: PH FHNW, PH Luzern, PH Zug, PH Schwyz, PH Wallis, PH Thurgau, PH St.Gallen, PH Bern, PH Zürich, PH Schaffhausen , SEM Geneva and EHB Lugano. Changes in management have also taken place, with FHNW replacing ETH as the lead project.
roteco is unique since it is in the local languages of German, French and Italian, starts from specific needs expressed by teachers, and gives a bottom-up development of teaching tools to support the needs of the teachers. In addition to the platform, roteco offers teacher training courses, educational resources and participates in different events to ensure the promotion of educational robotics.
